Welcome!
I am so happy that you’ve signed up for this series. We all are aware of the many benefits of meditation, and there’s no time like now to keep up the practice and even to learn new ways to practice that you might enjoy.
Each week, I will upload a new recording and will let you know by email. Some of you are experienced with meditation and some of you are new to it. These recordings will work for everyone.
For those wanting to start a daily practice, here are some tips.
Set aside 25-30 minutes each day so you have a couple moments to prepare before and a couple moments to relax and/or journal after the practice.
You can do these meditations while seated or walking. If seated, then sit in a comfortable position nice and tall, and without straining in that posture. Be sure you will be warm enough, too.
You can listen to the same recording multiple days in a row to start to turn meditation into a habit that you look forward to each day.
Let go of any expectations of how this might feel for you. Let it unfold moment by moment. (This, too, is part of the practice.)
Allow yourself to appreciate this break in the day.
Week 1 audio:
Journal questions:
What did you notice about practicing a meditation using the senses as the focal point of awareness?
Week 2 audio:
Journal questions:
What did you notice about your body today? What did you notice about how easy or difficult it was to keep your awareness focussed? Do you plan to do this meditation tomorrow? What are you goals for how often you will meditate? If the answer is daily, how can you fit it into each day?
Week 3 audio:
Journal questions:
What did you notice when directing lovingkindness to yourself? Now that it’s week 3, what are you noticing about your relationship to meditation? If any questions come up for you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email.
Week 4 audio:
Journal questions:
How did today’s meditation feel for you? Do you remember the word you chose at the start to describe how you feel? If so, do you feel the same now, or different?
Week 5 audio:
Journal questions:
What did you notice about this meditation that invited you to review the day? How do you feel after having done it? What intention did you set for how you want to feel for the rest of the day/evening and why?
Week 6 audio:
Journal question:
After these 6 weeks, what have you learned about your relationship to meditation? Is there more support you would wish for - would you wish for a live class, book recommendations, a community? What are you craving when it comes to your meditation practice?
(And after this journaling, if you want to let me know anything about what you’d wish for, please do.)
